The inspiration behind EIG’s activities is the idea of changing the way we see our environment. After years of “developmentism”, we think the time has come for we ourselves to develop, to grow intelligently (and even to downsize, if necessary). We seek to reclaim the classical ideals of those Renaissance men who chose to take a generalist vision of our world. As Indro Montanelli suggested, “the Greeks began to decline as a civilisation as soon as they stopped being generalists and became specialists”.
Seeing is not the same as looking. In fact, we believe that it is a more evolved state of existence. We at EIG are therefore banking upon observation, a different and differentiated vision of the world we live in. “Cradle to cradle" principles inspire us and lie behind the approach we take to the challenges we face. We believe in a “strategy of hope” (William McDonough, Denver, 2006), based on a necessarily symbiotic relationship between man and nature. The intelligent use of natural capital seems to us to be the most sensible way to ensure our own survival.
In short, we believe that we must reduce our ecological footprint at all levels, starting with our own individual choices. Out quality of life will increase in line with our ability to meet the challenge of changing and/or adapting certain habits and customs. This is our commitment to our clients, partners and society at large.
